Castor oil packs
- white flannel cloth or soft cotton (cheese cloth will do)
- plastic sheet
- hot water bottle
- bath towel
- two saftey pins (optional)
Protect bedding with plastic sheet (such as a large trash bag). Prepare cloth by washing in borax and drying before use. For abdominal application, it should be 1/4″ thick when folded and measure about 10″ wide by 14″ long. For smaller areas fold this over.
Put a small plastic sheet under cloth and pour castor oil onto cloth. Make sure the cloth is well saturated. It should be wet but not drippy.
Lie down and apply the cloth to the abdomen or the other area being treated. Place the small plastic sheet over the soaked flannel cloth. On top of that place a hot water bottle. Wrap a towel folded lengthwise, around the entire area. You can fasten it with safety pins.
The pack should remain on the treated area between one and two hours.
You may clean your abdomen afterwards, by using one quart of water mixed with 4 tbs. baking soda (pure variety only, or microwave to remove benzene).
Keep the flannel pack in a resealable bag for future use.
